Quick Answer

What is the best free ATS CV checker for UAE jobs?

MakeMyCV provides a free ATS CV checker built for the UAE job market. It reads your PDF the way an applicant tracking system does — raw text extraction and section detection — then flags every formatting and content issue in plain English, including visa status, nationality, structure and keywords. No sign-up, results in about 30 seconds.

What is an ATS?

The software UAE employers use to filter your CV before a human sees it.

An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is the software UAE employers — including Emaar, ADCB, ENOC, ADNOC, Majid Al Futtaim, and international banks across DIFC — use to filter CVs before a recruiter sees them. Around 75% of CVs are rejected at this layer, almost always for formatting the parser can’t read (tables, columns, icons, image-based text). This free checker runs your PDF against the same parsing logic and flags every issue, in plain English, in about 30 seconds.

The hiring reality

Why 75% of UAE CVs get filtered out before a human reads them.

ENOC, Emaar, Majid Al Futtaim, ADCB and most DIFC firms run every application through an applicant tracking system first. Your CV is software-filtered long before a recruiter opens it — and three specific issues kill most qualified candidates.

  1. 01

The ATS can't parse fancy layouts

Two-column templates, text boxes and embedded tables read as scrambled text to an ATS. Your real experience never makes it into the recruiter's search results.

  2. 02

Missing UAE-specific fields signal 'generic CV'

No nationality, no visa status, no availability — and Gulf recruiters move to the next file. UAE hiring runs on context that US/UK CV templates don't cover.

  3. 03

Walls of text lose the 7-second recruiter scan

Unquantified bullets, passive verbs, and 3-line paragraphs are the top reason qualified candidates get skipped. Scannability is the gatekeeper.

Our checker catches all three in 30 seconds. See what we'd find in yours →

The scan

What we check in your CV.

Four categories. ~60 individual checks. Every issue shown, every finding visible — nothing held back.

Content

  • Summary depth and hook in the first 3 lines
  • Quantified impact — numbers, %, currency, scale
  • Action verbs vs. passive, vague phrasing

Section structure

  • Required sections for UAE hiring (visa, nationality, languages)
  • Field completeness and labelling consistency
  • Recruiter-scannability in the 7-second window

ATS essentials

  • Format parseability — no tables, text boxes, images
  • Date structure recognized by Workday, Taleo, SuccessFactors
  • Font, columns and spacing that survive the scan

Design

  • Length calibrated to experience level
  • Skills coverage depth vs. the role target
  • Visual hierarchy — headings, whitespace, density

The methodology

Which ATS systems UAE employers use — and how they read your CV.

MakeMyCV’s free checker runs your PDF against the parsing behaviour of the applicant tracking systems UAE employers actually deploy, then reports every issue across 60+ UAE-tuned checks — content, structure, ATS-compatibility, design, and UAE-specific fields like visa status and nationality. It is deterministic: the same CV always returns the same findings, and we never promise a fixed ATS score or a guaranteed pass, because no such universal score exists.

ATS platformCommon UAE usersHow it tends to parse your CV
WorkdayLarge UAE corporates, banks and telcosReads your file into structured fields and asks you to confirm them. Rewards clean section headings and reverse-chronological dates; drops data trapped in tables or columns.
Taleo (Oracle)Government bodies and legacy enterprises across the GulfAn older parser that is sensitive to non-standard section names and any graphics. Plain headings like Experience, Education and Skills survive; creative labels often don't.
GreenhouseTech firms, scale-ups and startups in the UAEExtracts text and keywords into a candidate profile. Multi-column layouts and text stored inside images are the most common things it fails to read.
iCIMSEnterprise employers with high applicant volumeRanks CVs on keyword relevance to the job. Prefers standard section names and simple formatting; contact details in headers or footers can be missed.
LeverTechnology and fast-growing companiesParses resume text into a profile for recruiters. Tables, text boxes and header/footer regions frequently break clean field extraction.

Do this — the ATS reads it

  • One single-column layout — content flows top to bottom
  • Standard headings: Experience, Education, Skills
  • Real selectable text, never text baked into an image
  • Reverse-chronological dates in a consistent format (e.g. Jan 2023)
  • Common fonts and a text-based PDF export
  • The job ad's exact terms — but only where they're true of you

Avoid this — it gets filtered

  • Tables, text boxes or multi-column blocks for real content
  • Icons, logos or charts carrying information a recruiter needs
  • Contact details placed in the header or footer region
  • Decorative or uncommon fonts the parser can't map
  • A scanned or image-based PDF with no readable text
  • Keyword-stuffing you can't back up in an interview

Before you upload

Questions people ask before uploading.

Is this actually free?

Yes — the full ATS check is free and every finding is visible. No email gate, no paid tier, no account needed. The whole MakeMyCV builder is free too. If the tool helped you, you can leave a voluntary tip on the support page toward hosting and AI costs — entirely optional.

What happens to my CV after I upload it?

Your CV is parsed on our servers to produce the report, and the file is permanently deleted after 24 hours. It's never shared with recruiters, employers or third parties, and never used to train AI models.

How is this different from other resume checkers?

Most generic checkers are tuned for US/UK hiring. Ours is built around UAE recruiting reality — visa status, nationality, Arabic-name handling, GCC-specific recruiter norms, and the single-column, parser-safe structure that ATS software reads reliably.

Does this work for non-English CVs?

The checker is built for English-language CVs, which is what 95%+ of UAE corporate hiring requires. Arabic CVs aren't fully supported yet. If your CV is bilingual with English as the primary language, it will work.

Is my CV shared with recruiters or employers?

No. We are not a recruiting platform. MakeMyCV never sends your CV to employers, never sells contact data, and never shares uploads with third parties. You upload, you get a report, we delete the file.

Can I use this if I'm not in the UAE?

You can — the ATS checks for parseability, structure and scannability are universal. The UAE-specific checks (visa status, nationality fields) will surface as suggestions you can safely ignore if you're applying elsewhere.

Should I upload my CV as a PDF or DOCX for UAE jobs?

Use a text-based PDF (one you exported from a document, not a scan or screenshot). Modern applicant tracking systems used by UAE employers parse text-based PDFs reliably, and a PDF keeps your layout intact for the recruiter who reads it afterwards. A scanned or image-based PDF has no readable text, so the ATS sees a blank CV. This checker only accepts PDF.

Is passing the ATS enough to get the job?

No. Passing the ATS only means a human recruiter actually sees your CV — it's the first gate, not the finish line. After that, your content, relevance to the role, and how clearly you show impact decide the outcome. This checker fixes the formatting and keyword issues that get CVs filtered out before a person reads them; it doesn't assess whether you're the right hire.

How do I add keywords without keyword-stuffing?

Mirror the exact wording of the job ad only where it's genuinely true of your experience — job titles, tools, certifications and skills you actually have. Put them in context inside your bullet points, not in a hidden list or a wall of comma-separated terms. Stuffing keywords you can't back up gets flagged by recruiters and can't survive an interview, so the checker rewards relevant, in-context terms rather than raw density.

Why do different ATS systems score the same CV differently?

Because there is no single universal ATS score. Systems like Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, Taleo and iCIMS each parse and rank CVs with their own logic, and every employer configures the keywords and knockout rules for their specific role. That's why we don't promise a fixed score or a guaranteed pass — we flag the concrete parsing and content issues that hurt you across all of them, so your CV is readable whichever system an employer uses.

Your next UAE job starts with a CV that actually gets read.
