Hospitality CV for UAE Hotels and F&B: What Dubai and Abu Dhabi Recruiters Screen For

A hospitality CV for the UAE is screened in a fixed order: can we hire you (visa status, availability, nationality where the form asks), can you work with our guests (languages, guest-facing presentation), have you worked at our scale (room count, covers, outlets, star rating), and only then what did you achieve. Most CVs that fail in Dubai and Abu Dhabi hotel recruitment fail at the first two steps, before a recruiter has read a single bullet. This guide covers front office, F&B, housekeeping supervision, kitchen and hotel sales roles: what to put in the header, the section order, how to write bullets with scale, which certificates are real, where the jobs are posted, and what to do if you are starting out.

What do UAE hotel recruiters screen for first?

Hotels in the UAE run on expatriate labour and recruit continuously, so the first pass is logistical. Put these lines in the top third of page one:

  • Visa status, in one line. Employment visa, transferable if you are already working in the UAE; Visit visa, available immediately; Cancelled visa, available immediately; or Applying from Manila, relocating on offer if you are abroad. Hotels sponsor visas routinely, so an overseas application is not a disadvantage if the line is honest.
  • Availability or notice period. Hotels plan rosters weeks ahead and open seasonally. Available immediately or 30-day notice is a filter, not a formality.
  • Nationality, where the application asks. It is expected on Gulf CVs and it is one word.
  • Languages with levels. English is the working language; Arabic is an advantage, and Russian, Mandarin, Hindi, Urdu, Tagalog, German and French all matter for specific guest segments. Tagalog (native), English (fluent), Arabic (basic) is more useful than multilingual.
  • Current property and scale, in the title line: Front Desk Agent, 420-room 5-star beach resort, Dubai.

On photos: a head-and-shoulders photo is common for guest-facing UAE hotel roles and many hotel application forms ask for one, so including it is the safe default. Keep it plain (neutral background, work dress, no filters) and place it in a template's dedicated photo slot so your name and contact details stay as real text. Do not add appearance details such as height or weight to the CV; if a specific role requires them, the application form will ask. Our UAE CV photo guide covers the mechanics.

Which sections go on a UAE hospitality CV, and in what order?

OrderSectionWhat goes in it
1HeaderName, role title, Dubai or Abu Dhabi (or home city), +971 number, email, LinkedIn, nationality, visa status, availability
2Professional summaryTwo or three sentences: role, years, type of property, one measurable result
3Work experienceReverse-chronological; each property with brand, star rating, room count or outlet size
4CertificationsFood safety (PIC, basic food hygiene, HACCP), first aid, brand training, systems
5EducationHotel school or degree; short-course training can sit under certifications
6SkillsSystems (Opera PMS, Micros Simphony), service standards, languages if not in header

Keep it single-column: large hotel groups filter applications through applicant tracking software, and two-column templates are read out of order. The general rules are in our UAE CV format guide and the mistakes that get CVs filtered out are in 15 UAE CV mistakes.

How do you write hospitality bullets with scale?

Hospitality recruiters read for scale before they read for achievement, because a front desk agent at a 90-room business hotel and one at a 600-room resort have done different jobs. Every role entry needs the property's size (rooms, covers, outlets, star rating as classified by the local tourism authority) and every bullet needs a number a hiring manager recognises: covers per service, arrivals per shift, upsell revenue in AED, guest satisfaction scores, audit results, team size, cost or waste reductions.

The examples below are fictional and written only to show the pattern.

Front office

Front Desk Agent | 5-star, 420-room beach resort, Dubai | Mar 2023 to present

  • Processed up to 180 arrivals per shift on Opera PMS, including group and VIP check-ins.
  • Generated AED 38,000 in room-upgrade revenue in Q4 2025, the highest on a team of 12.
  • Held a 9.1/10 average check-in score in guest satisfaction surveys over 12 months.

F&B service

Restaurant Supervisor | 160-cover all-day dining outlet, 5-star hotel, Dubai | Jun 2022 to Feb 2025

  • Ran service for up to 450 covers a day across breakfast and Friday brunch, leading 14 waiting staff over two shifts.
  • Maintained an A grade in Dubai Municipality food safety inspections throughout the period.
  • Reduced breakage and linen cost 18% by introducing end-of-shift checklists.

Housekeeping

Housekeeping Supervisor | 320-room business hotel, Abu Dhabi | Jan 2021 to Dec 2024

  • Supervised 22 room attendants on a 14-room daily credit, inspecting 60 to 80 rooms a shift.
  • Achieved a 97% room-inspection pass rate on the brand standard audit two years running.
  • Cut lost-and-found resolution time from 48 hours to same-day.

Kitchen

Chef de Partie, hot kitchen | 3 outlets, 500+ covers a day, 5-star hotel, Dubai | Sep 2022 to present

  • Ran the sauce and grill sections for a 180-cover steakhouse and banqueting up to 600 guests.
  • HACCP documentation owner for the section; zero critical findings in four municipality inspections.
  • Reduced food cost on the section from 34% to 29% through portion control and prep planning.

Hotel sales

Sales Manager, Corporate | 280-room 5-star city hotel, Dubai | Apr 2021 to present

  • Delivered AED 9.6 million in corporate room revenue in 2025, 112% of target.
  • Managed 60 corporate accounts and led the RFP season for 20 global agreements.
  • Grew the top five accounts' room nights 24% year on year through quarterly reviews.

Same roles, written as duty lists, would read "responsible for check-in, upselling and guest satisfaction". The difference is the numbers. The UAE CV examples page has weak-versus-strong rewrites across other sectors, and JD Match shows which terms from a specific hotel job ad your CV already covers.

Which certifications matter on a UAE hospitality CV?

List only what you hold, with issuer and year, and mark anything lapsed. The ones UAE hotel and F&B recruiters look for:

  • Food safety. The Dubai Food Code (Dubai Municipality) requires every food establishment to employ a certified Person In Charge (PIC) and all food handlers to be formally trained in food safety by a Dubai Municipality-approved trainer, which in practice means a basic food hygiene certificate for kitchen and F&B staff. In Abu Dhabi, food safety is regulated by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), whose Essential Food Safety Training (EFST) certificate is the one Abu Dhabi hotels ask for. HACCP training is widely requested for chef and supervisory roles.
  • First aid and CPR. Common for front office, pool and recreation, and housekeeping supervisory roles.
  • Systems. Opera PMS (front office and reservations), Micros Simphony or other POS systems (F&B), channel managers and revenue tools (sales and reservations). Name the system, not "hotel software".
  • Brand and standards training. Completed brand training programmes, Forbes Travel Guide or LQA standards exposure and any internal trainer certification belong here with dates.
  • Hotel school qualifications, under education, with institution and year.

Do not list certificates you plan to take. "HACCP (in progress, exam Dec 2026)" is fine; "HACCP certified" when you are not is a background-check failure.

Where do UAE hotel groups post jobs?

  • Hotel groups' own careers portals. Jumeirah (Dubai) and Rotana (Abu Dhabi) are two of the largest UAE-headquartered groups, and the international groups with large UAE portfolios (Marriott, Hilton, Accor, IHG, Hyatt among others) all hire through their own global portals. Applications made there go straight into the group's applicant tracking system, which is why the single-column, text-based PDF matters.
  • LinkedIn, where hotel HR teams and general managers post and search directly.
  • Hospitality-specific job boards such as Hosco, alongside the general UAE boards.
  • Recruitment open days and walk-in interviews, which some hotels run for pre-opening and seasonal hiring; the invitation usually specifies the roles and asks you to bring a printed CV.
  • Licensed recruitment agencies in your home country for overseas hires. A legitimate employer or agency never charges you for a job offer or a visa.

How do you write a hospitality CV with no experience?

Hotels in the UAE hire freshers continuously for waiter, host, room attendant, commis chef and front desk trainee roles, and take hotel-school students through structured internships. The CV replaces experience with four things:

  1. Availability for shift work, stated plainly: available for split shifts, nights, weekends and public holidays.
  2. Languages, with levels, because they are the fastest way for a fresher to be useful on a guest-facing shift.
  3. Any customer-facing work at all, written with numbers: served 120 to 150 customers a shift in a 40-seat cafe; handled cash and card takings of up to AED 6,000 a day; volunteered as a registration desk host for a 2,000-attendee conference.
  4. A certificate you already hold, such as a basic food hygiene or first aid course, which shows you have invested before being asked.

Lead with a career objective naming the department you want and the type of property, then education, then whatever work you have. The full fresher structure is in our CV for freshers in the UAE guide, and candidates applying from the Philippines will find the paperwork side in the first-time OFW CV guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I put a photo on my hospitality CV for Dubai?

For guest-facing hotel and F&B roles in the UAE, a photo is common and many hotel application forms ask for one, so including it is the safe default. Use a plain head-and-shoulders photo with a neutral background and work-appropriate dress, placed in a template's dedicated photo slot so your name and contact details stay as real text. Do not add height, weight or other appearance details to the CV unless the job ad explicitly asks for them in the application.

Which food safety certificate do I need to work in a Dubai hotel kitchen?

The Dubai Food Code requires every food establishment to employ a certified Person In Charge (PIC) and all food handlers to be formally trained in food safety by a Dubai Municipality-approved trainer, which in practice means a basic food hygiene certificate for kitchen and F&B staff. HACCP training is widely requested on top of that for chef and supervisory roles. In Abu Dhabi, food safety is regulated by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), whose Essential Food Safety Training (EFST) certificate is the one Abu Dhabi hotels ask for. List each certificate with issuer and year; if one has lapsed, say so.

How long should a hotel CV be in the UAE?

One page for line-level roles and freshers, two pages for supervisors, chefs with several properties behind them, and sales or management roles. UAE hotel recruiters handle high application volumes and shortlist from the header and the first two roles, so put visa status, availability, languages and your current property in the top third of page one.

Do UAE hotels hire without hospitality experience?

Yes, for entry-level roles such as waiter, host, room attendant, commis chef and front desk trainee, and through structured internships for hotel-school students. What replaces experience on the CV is availability for shift work, languages, a food hygiene or first aid certificate you have already paid for, and any customer-facing work at all, including retail, events and volunteering, written with numbers.

What should a front office CV include for a UAE hotel?

The property's scale (room count, star rating, brand), the property management system you used (Opera PMS is the most common ask), arrivals handled per shift, upselling results in AED, guest satisfaction or review scores, loyalty programme enrolments, languages with levels, and your visa status and notice period. Night audit, group check-in and VIP handling experience are worth a line each if you have them.

Do UAE hotel jobs require Arabic?

Most do not. English is the working language of UAE hotels and the guest mix is international, so job ads typically require English and treat Arabic as an advantage rather than a condition, with exceptions for some government-owned properties and Arabic-speaking guest segments. Other languages are often valued more than candidates expect, so list every language you can work in, with an honest level for each.
